Twitter LTI

  1. Navigate to your course in Canvas. 
  2. Select Modules from the Course Navigation menu. 
  3. Click the + Module button. 
  4. Enter ‘Twitter Feed’ and click Add Module. 
  5. Click the + button for the module you created. 
  6. Click the selection box after the word Add and select External Tool. 
  7. Find and select Twitter from the list of tools. 
  8. Enter the Hashtag or Username for the desired feed and select the number of tweets to show. 
  9. Click Preview and then Embed once you’re satisfied with the feed. 
  10. Click Add Item. 
  11. Click the gray cloud for both the Module AND the External Tool Link to publish them. The clouds will turn green with a tick when they are published.

Adding the LTI to a resource using the Rich Content Editor:

Certain LTIs like Twitter have buttons in the Rich Content Editor to add it to a desired resource. The Rich Content Editor is used to create Announcements, Assignments, Discussions, Pages, Quizzes, and Syllabi. The following steps walk through adding the Twitter LTI to a Page but they should also help to add it to other resources using the Rich Content Editor. 

  1. Navigate to your course in Canvas. 
  2. Select Pages from the Course Navigation menu. 
  3. Click the + Page button. 
  4. Give the object a title. 
  5. Click the More External Tools icon in the content editor, then select Twitter.

  6. Enter the Hashtag or Username for the desired feed and select the number of tweets to show. 
  7. Click Preview and then Embed once you’re satisfied with the feed. 
  8. Click Save & Publish to make it available for all course users.
