Keep Teaching with Canvas

Get Ready for Summer and Fall 2021

As Emory continues to adapt teaching in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, instructors may wonder how to refine their courses going forward. The following strategies are recommended by TLT:

Reflect on Your Teaching Practice from the Past Year

  • What worked? What did not? Are there new skills/tools you want to develop?
  • Check your Canvas course analytics to review student activity
  • If you are returning to a classroom, continue to use your Canvas site as a resource. If there is a shift to remote teaching, your Canvas site will be ready to go.

Encourage Active Learning

Create an Inclusive Class Environment

Plan a Flexible & Effective Communication Strategy

  • Add statements about backup plans for unexpected events in your Canvas Syllabus to set student expectations
  • Use Announcements for urgent blasts
  • Host live office hours in Zoom
