Teaching With Canvas Program

Apply now for Teaching With Canvas

Teaching & Learning Technologies is pleased to offer our faculty cohort program Teaching With Canvas (TWC) every semester. This flexible, 7-week engagement encourages sustainable Canvas course development and instructional innovation. Applications for Spring 2024 are now open.

Selected TWC faculty will create new course modules and potentially an entirely new course site for upcoming terms. Based on engaging, inclusive & innovative strategies—and with a mix of virtual, in-person, and self-paced interactions— the TWC cohort program also encourages informal learning and sharing among cohort members throughout the process.

The cohort will aim to meet face-to-face 2-3 times throughout the semester. Teaching and Learning Technologies Educational Analysts will check in regularly with TWC faculty to provide Canvas support. A stipend of $500 will be awarded to each faculty member who completes the program.

Participants will proceed through a custom-designed path of resources focusing on one (or more) area of interest:

  • Design—faculty explore accessible content presentation and organizational strategies while cultivating an inclusive Canvas course.
  • Engagement—faculty develop dynamic instructional techniques and diverse assessment strategies to achieve their Canvas course goals.
  • Data—faculty examine trends in learning analytics and access Canvas Data to improve their course design.

Curious what participants created in earlier cohorts? We wrote about projects from Julie Gazmararian (Rollins School of Public Health), Michelle Sariev (School of Nursing), Patricia Cahill (ECAS–English), and Cassidy Puckett (ECAS–Sociology) on Digital Matters.

Complete the brief online application by Monday, January 29 for the Spring 2024 cohort or email us at classes@emory.edu if you have questions. We look forward to working with you.
